The Burlington Fire Department rescued a dog and battled two separate fires at the same residence last week.

At 5:04 p.m. Thursday, the Burlington Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at a home located at 217 Barret St., according to a press release from the Burlington Fire Department.

When fire crews arrived, they located flames showing from a second-story window.

A dog was rescued from the fire and taken to the local animal shelter.

The owner of the property was not home at the time of the incident.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

The home did not have any working smoke or carbon monoxide alarms, according to the release.

The property was insured and damages are being assessed at this time.

On 1:57 a.m. Friday, Burlington firefighters responded back to the same home and found flames visible from a second-story window.

No occupants were inside the home, and no injuries were reported during the second visit to the residence.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The West Burlington fire and police departments, Burlington Police Department, and Alliant Energy and Gas all assisted in the response to the fires.
