Adam Robert Cloyed, 35, Fort Madison, was arrested on the south alley in the 1100 block of Avenue D at 2:01 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with fifth degree criminal mischief and contempt of court for failing to appear at proceedings. Cloyed was also charged with possession of a controlled substance (subsequent offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed.
Deputies were called to the 2800 block of Highway 27 at 7:52 a.m. Wednesday for a one-vehicle accident involving a semi-trailer, driven by Charles Edward Smith, 46, of Clinton. According to the accident report, Smith was traveling south when he left the roadway, went into the westbound ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn and cause damage to a property fence. The semi-tractor and trailer sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. No injuries were reported. Smith was cited for failing to maintain control of a vehicle.
